How Chiropractic Eliminates Neck Pain | Chiropractor for Neck Pain in Hartland, WI
Neck pain can be incredibly frustrating — it slows you down and can affect everything from sleep to concentration. But the good news is, it doesn’t have to be permanent. At Perfect Touch Chiropractic, our goal is to identify and correct the root cause of your neck pain, headaches, or any upper cervical issues you may be experiencing.
How We Find the Root Cause
We begin with highly precise X-rays and a thorough health history review. Listening to the patient is just as important as imaging — understanding your unique experience helps us connect the dots.
In Ryan’s case, we’ve already completed this exam and determined that the root of his neck pain is a misalignment in his upper cervical spine. Today, we’re going to gently correct that cause.
Step 1: Leg Length Analysis
The first thing we do before an adjustment is check the leg length. This gives us a reliable indicator of imbalance. In Ryan’s case, his right leg is visibly drawn up, showing a clear misalignment that calls for an adjustment. After the adjustment, we expect the legs to balance out evenly — one of our objective measures of success.
Step 2: Gentle Atlas Adjustment
Here at Perfect Touch, we use a special technique called Atlas Orthogonal. It’s performed on what we call the Atlas Table and is known for being one of the most gentle techniques in chiropractic.
Ryan is lying on his side, and I’m referencing the exact measurements we obtained from his X-rays — down to the millimeter and degree. The bone we’re adjusting is called the Atlas, the topmost vertebra in your neck. If the idea of manual adjustments or “popping” makes you nervous, this technique is a great alternative — precise, gentle, and highly effective.
You may not even feel much during the adjustment, but the change it makes internally is profound.
Step 3: Rechecking Balance
After the adjustment, we recheck leg length. Ryan’s legs were about 1¼ inches uneven before, and now they’re almost perfectly even. That tells us the adjustment created a measurable change in his body.
He may still have other subluxations further down the spine that we’ll address in future visits, but today’s adjustment should significantly help relieve his neck pain — just like it always does for him!
